Duncan Okes Inc, Attorney
Duncan Okes has practiced business law and litigation for more than 45 years, and is currently practicing from Tulbagh in the Western Cape, with affiliate offices throughout South Africa, including Pretoria, Cape Town, and George.
He is also available to consult remotely on matters countrywide and international.
After earning his BA LLB at Stellenbosch University and University of Natal, he practiced as a state prosecutor in the criminal courts.
He then competed his Articles of Clerkship at Denys Reitz ( now Norton Rose Fulbright ), and was immediately invited to join as a partner.
Subsequently he pursued additional advanced and specialised studies were subsequently at the University of Witwatersrand.
He then went on to be a founding partner of the prestigious Sandton firm Sampson, Okes, Higgins.
His core focus is business structuring, including shareholder agreements, agency, and partnership; as well as director authority and dispute resolution. In addition, Attorney Okes has both deep and broad experience in administrative law pertaining to State powers. These include the awarding of tenders, allocation of rights in land, land restitution, expropriation, environmental issues, and procurement by organs of State.
He manages dispute resolution via arbitration, and by litigation before both the Magistrates Court and the High Court.
His professional life has taken him throughout West and Sub-Saharan Africa, where he has worked on various mining, telecommunications, and other commercial matters.
